What's the third evo for water and mid for fire? I think switching them up so that water is Evo 3 and Fire is Evo 2 would be better...

Yeah, it could work that way, too Still, more people like Blaziken, can somebody confirm? I can't remember the results of the popularity poll from last year.

Can't confirm, but it's a good speculation: Blaziken's got the major fan-base (much of it being the anime's fault because of the amount of major and even cameo roles) and without a major Swampert to be found anywhere and a Sceptile belonging to Ash (and, due to the Starter Cliche, a primary force in his team) in the anime, Sceptile would probably follow that.
Now, the only thing I can say about your team for May, Johans, is that in both anime and game, May never caught all three starters, and as a rival, May never evolved her Pokemon past Grovyle/Combusken/Marshtomp, unless I'm mistaken.

After checking again, it happens that Blaziken isn't any of the the top 10 most popular Pokémon from the poll, so it will be hard to confirm. You're right about May not getting more than one Hoenn starter. But that's the best thing I can think of. In game-like artworks, she appeared with a Skitty and a Beautifly as a beautiful blend of game & anime sources, but I don't think those two would make it to Brawl. And this probably doesn't matter, but the May from the anime got more than one starter, albeit from different regions. As for the evolutionary stage of the Pokémon of her as a NPC, I don't think it matters as much as the fact that as a playable character she could have made her Torchic become a Blaziken. All in all, I don't think the idea for a Blue-skinned Pokémon Trainer would work as well as a May-skinned Pokémon Trainer as long as they don't reveal any of the Hoenn starters as Poké Ball Pokémon ;D

Not Swampert, so it proves nothing I guess.

I lol'd my ass off seeing that alone. So, I'd assume the team would have to follow up with Red's base for May, assuming we used all three starters. Blaziken is the most popular full-evolution, if my sources are correct, Mudkip's just friggin' popular, so Grovyle would fall into place between. Red, Blue, May, Misty, and Brock, 5 good famous trainers, would probably work well. I'd envision their teams as... | Red | Blue | Misty | Brock | May | Starter | Squirtle | Growlithe | Psyduck | Geodude | Mudkip | Middle | Ivysaur | Alakazam | Togetic | Kabutops | Grovle | Full | Charizard | Blastoise | Poliwhirl | Rhydon | Blaziken |

Brendan skin isn't happening, because of this screenshot: So, if a Hoenn Trainer has to appear, then it could be the female one.
