Sometime long before most of the members of this forum came to be, there was a forum called Smash Bros Online, or as most know it as, SBO. If you recognize those letters in that order, give yourself some kind of pat on the back. Anyway, SBO is a site where if you ask someone about it, the majority of people will, in a nutshell, explain it as forum paradise up until the day the admin closed the site. I for one, agree with that previous statement. Now, sometime after the forum got over a thousand members and many of them active, the admin came back. For reasons I honestly can't remember, the members of the forum and the admin Josh felt a strong difference of opinion in what seemed to be damn near everything. In a fit of rage and anger, Josh closed the SBO forum sometime last Summer if I'm not mistaken. Anyway, in fear that such a thing would happen, some of the veteran members of the forum discussed making another forum and getting it up and getting SBO members on it so we wouldn't have to listen to pissy rules Josh had and all of his moaning and whining about his crush on an 8-bit sprite. But that's another story for another day. Being that the actual members discussing making a new forum didn't know how to code it properly, we had to find someone who did. That someone was Rukario, who I'm sure many people on this forum know. Rukario's pretty much adept at coding both Invisionfree and Proboards sites, so we picked a winner there. Now we weren't gonna let Rukario be the admin, but we still needed him to code the forum, so what we did was pick another person to co-adminize with him. I was the one picked, and I laid down the lay while Rukario worked the technical aspect. Then, The Glass Owl, or TGO was born.
The general idea for TGO was to be as different from SBO as humanly possible while still keeping the things SBO had that members loved. We decided against having any specific game themes which is how the name came about in the first place. We also decided a couple other things and axed a couple other things that I can't recall right now. Anyway, off the bat, TGO was pretty much slow. But it was working. We got what we wanted out of it and it turned out to be a big payoff when Josh did close down SBO. At the beginning it had alot of bland skins and problems with the Shoutbox among other things. We didn't get as many new members as we wanted and also didn't get as many old members returning as we wanted, but we took what we had, and figured we could work with it. We kinda did. Slowly but surely, less and less people gave a damn about TGO, less and less people gave posts to TGO, and less and less people even came to TGO. So we had to do something. Rukario couldn't come up with anything, so I just decided to brainstorm it with DarkLink. Actually, I didn't decide to brainstorm it with DarkLink. What happened was DarkLink and I were talking as usual (you guys can only imagine the amount of awesomeness an IM box can hold with the two of us), and we just came to talking about this forum called Chaos Element. A forum that's established with quite a few active members, but still missing a little gas in the tank, which was seasoned forum members to make some suggestions to the admin on making the site even better than it already was. I remember the exact statement when DarkLink said "Yeah CE is great, I'd post there more often if only it had some more members and stuff like that." So the idea popped into my head. I always enjoyed Chaos Element, especially it's unique members. And I had been familiar with everything TGO related because SBO was my first forum. So what I decided to do, was since TGO was the much more inferior forum especially in terms of activity, was ask the Chaos Element administrator Jeff, who I had already been familiar with, if I could merge the forums, and bring my members here. What did I have to lose? I had faith in all my buddies from TGO, everyone was welcome. I had no doubt that they would be able to light the place up.
So the idea happened. Now, some people went over to CE and gave it all they had. Only the most adept of forums. The ones who I considered to contribute to being the life of the forum since SBO. People like myself, people like HiddenTiger, Chloroform/blah1, and even babymario and Brandon when they had the time. I'd mention T1000416 and DarkLink but they were already on CE. Now I must have been sadly mistaken when I thought I could merge two of the most awesome forum rosters I've seen, which I was. It seemed like the TGO members registered, made a hello thread, and then just scattered off again. Some of them made their own forums, and some scattered there. I posted on those forums, only because I have a hell of alot of free time being homeschooled, so what the hell? Not like it's gonna hurt. But I can't help but feel a sense of betrayal from the members who didn't exactly have my back for the evolution of TGO to Chaos Element. People like Bill, Shrikeswind, Shadrio, Kriven Raven, among others. It was then that I realized, posting on your site completely flaws my whole view on evolving the forum. If you have D.A.N. here, you have one of the people who contribute life to your forum. It practically has me saying that it's okay that you didn't go along with the TGO/CE merge and that I don't really care. I'm sorry to say, but there's only one place you can get me now, and that place is Chaos Element.
With that I take my leave, to support the movement. I wish you the best.
