Problem is, all of those uses involve a need to dodge the enemy to attack, which isn't how I play. I can't find a use for wave-dashing because I tend to play in a land-based defensive style. My fighting style is not wave-dash compatable. Here's how it works.
I use Smashes to get people away. I rarely jump. I button-mash. I move only to get back to my last spot. I finish with specials. I never edge-guard. I rarely chase people. I bitch out rolling. I frequently Smash. I stay central.
My advantage is that I hog the center and let none pass. While it doesn't kill quickly, it leaves me safe while allowing them to be blasted off again and again and again. If you can find use for wave-dashing for the center statue, let me know.

Well some people wavedash in place as a psyche out. >_> It's a shame you don't do some things on that list there. I know for fact edge guarding with Mewtwo ain't easy, but he can at least knock people with his forward air and make it back to the stage in one piece.
