Well, guys, this is the thread to explain the "thing" with Geno to Johans Nidorino, so be glad it exists! ;D (this way you'll have the chance to make this world a better place to live in). It's not only you guys, but also members from message boards such as SmashBoards or NinDB who like the idea noticeably enough.
Before anything, I'll admit I've not played SMRPG . I did, but never reached the point when you start building your party. I'm not proud of it, and I guess this contributes to why I don't "like" him (likewise, I don't "dislike" him either). I guess knowing a character from an old game, a lonely and very specific one, is what they call a "cult". Because, otherwise, how will 10-year old kids know Geno if they were born way after SMRPG appeared? It's teenagers like you guys (and older people) who might know this character at this point . Or emulator gamers of any age. Two of my friends, who are 5% as fans of Nintendo as I am, do know SMPRG and have told me it's a PWNing game, so I trust anyone if (s)he says he's a kickass character.
So:
1. I'm aware there was some excitement when Geno appeared in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, and that the excitement was heightened when Solid Snake was announced for Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
2. I'm also aware he appeared in Sakurai's poll last June.
3. Like any character from a long RPG, I know he has enough moves to be a playable character in SSBB.
4. Many of you guys like him.
Are 1, 2, and 3 enough to deem him more likely than characters from Mario spin-off games? And why?
Like I said before, I know little of this cute- and cool-looking character, but something tells me I'm not wrong when I say this would be a shocking pick from Masahiro Sakurai.
Unless... Yes! This game has been announced for the Virtual Console, and that will make him more recognizable for new generations of gamers at the time SSBB appears. That's sincerely the only reason I can right now see to consider "likely" an appearance of Geno as a playable character in the game.
Do I need some explanation? Educate me!
