I'm still thinking, but probably Meta Knight or Pokemon Trainer if I choose a newcomer.
If I choose a veteran, it will probably be Bowser or Link.

As for newcomers, Dedede and Red will be high-priority, while oldies will show me using Bowser and DK often. Use of strong, slow characters has always been my forte, and I doubt that'll change for Brawl.
