Name: Pokemon Island
Game: Pokemon Snap
Year: 1999
The entire island serves as your stage, similar to stages like PokeFloats and Isle Delfino. Here's how it works.
You and the others are fighting on two moving platforms, a long flat-bed and what it's hitched to, the famous ZERO-ONE. The fight starts on the Beach, where you will be toted around for a while as you beat the heck out of each other. On the beach, you'll pass by several Pokemon. Most of them are just in the background, but a couple aren't, particularly, several Pidgeys, a Scyther, and a Kangaskhan. The Pidgeys will serve a similar role as Whispy Woods does in its stages, by using Gust, they push you away from them and towards the edge, where you may get left behind. The ZERO-ONE and the bed don't move too fast, so you can catch up from the bottom platform, but don't get too comfortable down there, the stage is still moving. Scyther won't bother you unless you throw an item into his patch of grass, at which point he'll leap out at you, using Slash. Kangaskhan is the same way, except that she'll use Roar or Comet Punch, depending on her mood. Roar throws you back, similar to what happens if you get hit by a beam-sword, but with no damage dealt. Comet Punch has Kangaskhan jump onto the bed (she's scaled down to about as big as Bowser) and punch whoever's in her way up to five times before leaving. This hurts pretty bad. At several points in the stage, you can also stand on some of the scenary besides the beach, for example, you can fight on the Kingler Rock and Meowth's pillar.
After travelling the beach for about twenty seconds, the ZERO-ONE will turn into a cave, the Tunnel region. Another stage in which you can walk along behind and in front of the ZERO-ONE and the bed, here you'll find the same interest as before: Pokemon in the background. Like before, not real splendid, just an interesting note, but there are Pokemon here that can prove quite dangerous. First of all are the Electrodes: Any time they explode, they damage people on the stage as well, in spite being in the background. At the cave's opening, this will knock several Kakuna down, which can hit you and leave you poisoned. Occasionally, Zubat swoop across the stage instead of in the background, pestering people as they use Wing Attack to free themselves (it's weak, like being hit by a fan, but it causes flinching.) At one point, you'll be stopped by the Zapdos egg, which can serve as another platform for a bit. However, a small Pikachu with scruffy hair in the background will use Thunderbolt on the egg after five seconds, freeing the ZERO-ONE, but also hurting anyone on the egg, as well as releasing a Zapdos, who will act just like the one in the Pokeball, lighting up the stage (and allowing you to see the Pinsir shadow,) but hurting anyone in the way. Finally, near the end, you'll see some Magnemite that will stun anyone who gets close with a Supersonic. There are no special platforms other than the Zapdos egg, so this will be pretty simple.
After you make it out of the tunnel in twenty-five seconds, an Electrode will explode, damaging you if you're in the way but also revealing a new opening. The ZERO-ONE goes down the tunnel, taking you to the Volcano. The Volcano isn't too hard to figure out, don't step in the lava and don't get left behind. Again, Pokemon in the background, but also attacking ones in the front. Magmars will attack the ZERO-ONE if hit by an item. While it's generally harmless to throw an item into the lava-filled craters, occasionally, an Arcanine will come out and use Extremespeed across the ZERO-ONE, hurting anyone stupid enough to get in the way. Duck, or you'll be burnt by the attacking dog. Other times, you'll see a Koffing Cloud appear by doing this. You'll also find another egg in the stage, this one the Moltres egg. It'll hatch of its own accord after five seconds, or you can shatter it with attacks, but Moltres will act just as if it was caught in a Pokeball (except, like Zapdos, indiscriminately.) You'll finally reach a crater of lava near the end with a Charmeleon in the foreground. While harmless, if he's knocked into the lava, he'll evolve into a giant Charizard and scorch the stage with Flamethrower. You can stand on the rims of several of the craters here, but not in some of them.
After 20-25 seconds, you shoot into the River. This is the first stage where you can't stand behind or in front of the ZERO-ONE or you'll lose a life (you'll be washed away.) However, you can stand on drifting material occasionally, and occasionally you can stand on some stumps and whatnot. Yet again, Pokemon cameos, and yet again you can be attacked, this time by Vileplume (accidentally, it's sleeping on the banks in front of the Cubone Tree using Stun Spore, thereby paralyzing you temporarily if you get hit.) Wake it up with an attack and it won't bug you any more. Also, occasionally Shellder will jump out of the water, usually out of the way, however, they'll occasionally use Tackle on you, slightly hurting you. Cloyster is much more devestating: He uses Clamp, which causes him to hurt you alot and, if you're really unlucky, take you down into the water like Boss Bass in SMB3.
Near the gate after 20 seconds, a Porygon will appear, opening the way to the Cave. You absolutely cannot get off the ZERO-ONE or the bed now or you'll fall into the void, unless you find a pillar to stand on. Dodge the Zubats near the Mewtwo Constellation, they'll use Wing Attack if they hit you, same as last time. The three Koffing will also be annoying, tackling you if you get in the way, but you can knock them out. A Weepinbell can be found near a pool on a raised platform, it can be evolved by knocking it into the pool, though this does nothing. This is the first time the Magikarp can attack, it'll jump from pool to pool at one point, tackling anyone in the way. Finally, an Articuno will fly across the stage at one point, doing what it does if it comes from it's ball, if you break it's egg, anyways.
After another 20 seconds have zipped by, you'll find yourself out of the cave and moving into the Valley. The Valley, like the River, will wash you away if you're an idiot and jump off the ZERO-ONE or the bed, but you don't have as many small platforms, just the occasional chance to walk along the banks. Like usual, you can be attacked, this time, a Mankey might jump down and use Rage on you. Also, a single Magikarp can be seen, if you knock him onto the shore and back into the water, he'll race up a waterfall and evolve into the mighty Gyarados and ram at the ZERO-ONE, badly damaging anyone who happens to be in the way. You can stand on several bends, but the water moves fast, meaning you have to as well, or you'll be left behind.
Around Mt. Dugtrio, a Staryu will start flying around the ZERO-ONE. It's not attacking, so don't worry. You'll get to the whirlpool after 20 seconds in the Valley, where you'll watch the Staryu dive in and evolve, then it'll fly upwards, beckoning the ZERO-ONE to follow. The ship will, and you'll find yourself in the Rainbow Cloud, following the Starmie. This time, you have NO OTHER PLATFORMS BUT THE ZERO-ONE AND THE BED! You will not have to deal with any Pokemon attacks, but in the background, you might see Mew (if anyone wants Mew, then that'd be before Mew is unlocked, afterwards, the Mew wouldn't be there.) After 20 seconds are up, the Starmie will go away and you'll land back at the Beach.
