The Pacifist is a game idea I'm working on. Here's the concept.
You play a character currently known as the Pacifist (I don't have an official name yet.) The Pacifist, obviously, is a pacifist, so he does not fight. His life revolves around trying to inspire this peacefulness in other people as well. Unfortunately, this doesn't bode so well with other folks, who want to kill him. In an effort to lead him into a trap where he will be killed, a group of war-mongers steal his prized possession: An signed album of his favorite musician. Your duty: Retrieve the album without yourself harming anyone (if you do, you lose a life at the end of the level due to your regret) or getting killed (at which point you lose a life immediately.) So, how do you progress without hurting anyone? There are three ways.
1) The Pacifist may block attacks. As time progresses, the Pacifist gets better protection, for example a steel wrist-guard called the Mega-Guard.
2) The Pacifist may evade attacks. This is performed with special jumps, ducks, and dodges.
3) The Pacifist may calm enemies down with a guitar melody. While he may use it whenever he wants, it becomes most effective (i.e., it gets the most range) after a long time.
Now, enemies may get themselves killed if you evade and they're stupid enough to follow you into a dangerous spot and something happens, however, you can't set a trap. If an enemy gets killed in this way it's entirely out of luck, i.e., you have no input to say that your enemy is going to, say, be smashed by a boulder.
So, who is the Pacifist? The Pacifist is a hippie, in shortest answer. In longest...
The Pacifist is the son of an abusive father. His mother is dead. He is now 17 years old and has run away from home. He works at a grocery store, bagging. He lives in his van with his only possessions: His guitar, a mini-fridge, a record player, his collection of records, and his clothes (seven pairs of bell-bottoms, seven protest shirts, three tie-dye shirts, a green t-shirt, three band shirts, his peace-sign necklace, and his work clothes.) When I make the first sprite, you'll see him.
