Name: Mushroom Kingdom: Sewers
Game: Mario Bros, 1983
The threats are quite plainly shown here, basic enemies. THe enemies crawl out of the pipes at the top of the screen and make their way to the bottom pipes to continue the cycle. Unfortunatly for players the enemies can walk off one screen and loop to the otherside. They also come in 3 colors: Normal, Blue, and Green. With each color their speed increases, but the damage stays the same.
By jumping at the blocks under the hazard enemies, you can knock them upsidedown, where the can be attacked and destroyed. However if you neglect to destroy a flipped enemy they will change colors and flip over again. It takes two bumps to flip a Crab over, the first bump will anger them and cause them to move quicker and cause more damage, the second bump will flip them over and revert them to their original form, however in the next color (if red, they will turn blue, if blue they will turn green.) Bumping the platfrom under a Smash character will cause 2% damage and make them fall down like they've recieved a strong attack.
The POW Block at the top of the screen can be used to clear all hazard enemies off the screen EXCEPT for the fireballs or Fighter Flies if they are in the air. It also does 20% damage to any Smash characters on the ground, being in the air or jumping will help the enemy avoid taking damage. The block can be destroyed simply by attacking it. It will reappear in 10 seconds.
The warp-pipes at the top of the screen can NOT be entered and can be run infront of. The pipes at the bottom of the screen, however, can be entered. These will warp you to the appropriate warp at the top of the screen (Right bottom pipe, Left top pipe.)
Enemies:
Spinies - Basic spinies, they are the second slowest of the enemy hazards. Touching them will cause 5% damage, but jumping on their backs will cause 10% damage.
Crabs - Crabs are faster then Spinies. They do 10% damage upon contact.
Fury Crab - After a Crab becomes angry they will become larger and do 15% damage. Sometimes Fury Crabs can come out of the pipes without an enemy being knocked from below.
Fighter Flies - Fighter Flies are unique in the fact that they, unlike the other enemies, jump through the air. They are the slowest because of this however. It comes to their advantage however, as they can avoid being bumped and earth quakes from the POW Block if they are in the air. They cause only 5% damage.
Freezies - The item and enemy Freezie does appear in this stage, the exact same way the other enemies do. It can be grabbed and used as an item, as it can in Melee. Different from the item version, however, is that it will stop on a platform and temporarily freeze the platform, decreasing traction and speed on that platform. They cause no damage when run into, and aren't very big threats.
Fireballs - The Fireballs are unique and their color doesn't matter to their speed or damage. They come in green and red and do not appear from Warp Pipes. Instead they materialise on either side of the screen and bounce around the platforms. They cause 10% damage + burn status. They cannot be destroyed by attacks or the POW, the only way is to wait until they disappear.
ALTERNATIVE MAP
The alternative map provides a larger area for fighting as well as several noticeable changes. The largest of which being the change in pipes. There are now two additional pipes. The pipe rule from above is ditched, and any pipe can warp you to any random pipe.
The POW Block is also moved into a different location.
