But was this not initially intended for the previews? No, this was not initially intended for previews, this was initially intended for people to write up their ideas

Ah, then my worries are unjust. The idea that a thread initially intended to write up ideas could become a commissions thread is simply unheard of.

Well no, just the way you put it before made it seem like that you couldn't post here unless you were asking for the game to be made.
GM Help Topic:
How do i create an object directly infront of the object that's creating it?

Open the Room Editor. You'll notice right when you get in that there's a little checkbox that says "Delete Underlying." As long as that's on, you can't cover objects with other objects, so click that sucker.

No, I mean in an objects events. I can't get DK to throw barrels x.X

Oh. I can't get that either. My attempt ended in failure as well. How'd you try it?

I clicked to create an instance with motion after animation end, however no matter which X or Y I specify, the barrel always appears at the top left corner (aka 0)
I think I figured it out, I need to split DK into two objects one for his upper half, and on for his lower.

I see a problem. The barrel needs to be at RELATIVE (0,0) to DK. Otherwise, it'll show up at EXACT (0,0).

Figured that out too.
My idea didn't work exactly, but it helped, just gotta fix a couple little bugs *plays with it some more*

What happens now?

..I make a mock object.... that's what... Maybe it will actually work then...
OMG! IT WORKS!
Here's watcha do: Take the sprite of the object you want to create and make a new object with it. Make sure the visible box is UNCHECKED.
Then, in the object "Tosser" or the DK object in my case, tell it to create an instance relative to "Object" instead of "Self" and in the menu click the name of the mock object.

Okay, I'm confused. Maybe the codes for it?

No codes, I made it work with drag 'n' drop

...I mean what commands does Game Maker need for that?
|
|
|
Post by Kriven on Apr 3, 2007 17:56:18 GMT -5
Simple:
DK commands:
Animation End - Create Instance of an Object (Barrel Toss creates Barrel, x=0, y=0, relative)
Barrel Toss commands:
None (used for positioning purposes only)
