Maybe what you think, hopefully not. If you think Jesse and James: BZZZT! WRONG! Team Rocket plays like Pokemon Trainer, but with different Pokemon. The character is represented in the BG but the Male Rocket Grunt, but the female one is an alternate costume (complete with girled-up Pokemon.)
Name: Team Rocket
Game: Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow
Costumes are based off the Pokemon Leaf Green/Fire Red designs.
Pokemon used: Rattata, Murkrow and Houndoom
Murkrow and Houndoom are used to represent the second generation, as the only representation of that generation (as of yet) is Pichu, while first generation currently has six Pokemon in the series.
Final Smash: Beat Up - Murkrow, Rattata and Houndoom all maul the enemy using mainly physical attacks. It seems that Rocket has brought three more Pokemon with him to join the fun, as Muk, Marowak and Koffing join the fun. (In the games, Beat Up causes all of the party's Pokemon to strike at once.)
Name: Rattata
Game: Pokemon Blue/Red/Yellow
Stats:
Speed: 8/10
Strength: 3/10
Size: 2/10
Jump: 7/10
Weight: 3/10
Fall: 6/10
Traction: 4/10
Rattata is the fastest and lightest of the Rocket Pokemon.
Attacks:
Up B: Quick Attack - Quick Attack was one of Rattata's most commonly used attacks in the games. Unfortunatly Pikachu has already used it for Smash, so this is but a mere clone.
B: Toxic - Spits a purple liquid at foes. If it hits an enemy, there's a chance of poisoning them (which just leaves them with a purple tint for 30 seconds and drains 2% every five seconds. Nothing big.)
Smash B: Hyper Fang - A some-what chargeable attack. By holding the B button Rattata will start to crouch low, gathering energy that is shown to the players as a purple aura forming around his jaw. Once the button is released Rattata will lunge forward and bite foes he contacts, doing decent damage depending on the amount of charge. Sometimes (very rarely) will he replace the attack with Super Fang and do 50% damage regardless of charge.
Down B: U-Turn - The switching move. Rattata will scratch an enemy, and regardless of contact, switch place with Murkrow after using the attack.
Taunt: Rattata digs into the ground and pulls up a cracker, which he lovingly flips into his mouth ^_^
Name: Murkrow
Game: Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal
Stats:
Speed: 3/10
Strength: 5/10
Size: 3/10
Jump: 5/10
Weight: 3/10
Fall: 3/10
Traction: 5/10
Murkrow can use the games glide.
Attacks:
Up B: Aerial Ace - Murkrow will slash upward, gaining excellent upward leverage. The attack is also his most powerful special. He DOESN'T go into useless-mode, a perk to being a bird I'd assume
B: Captivate - Shoots purple lasers from his eyes which causes foes to flinch and lowers their knockback strength.
Smash B: Steel Wing - Murkrow's wings become encased by steel. He then spins around, wings outstretched, damaging foes.
Down B: Night Shade - Night Shade in the game merely creates a mirage. It doesn't state of what sort. Murkrow becomes enveloped in black mist that damages foes who contact it, when the mist clears he has been switched for Houndoom.
Taunt: Murkrow poses movie-mafia style.
Name: Houndoom
Game: Pokemon Silver/Gold/Crystal
Houndoom is the big and strong member of the group.
Speed: 6/10
Strength: 7/10
Size: 5/10
Jump: 5/10
Weight: 6/10
Fall: 6/10
Traction: 6/10
Attacks:
Up B: Giga Impact - Slightly different then in-game descritions. The attack starts like C. Falcon's up B, a somersault upwards. However instead of grabbing foes, Houndoom kicks off them, launching them diagnally downward at an amazing rate, covered in black and purple flames.
B: Will-O-Wisp - Essentially a clone of Flamethrower and Fire Breath, the attack uses blue flames. It also goes straight through the air, as opposed to being pointed downward. It lasts slightly longer then Firebreath.
Smash B: Crunch - Lunges forward, knocking foes to the ground. He quickly bites down on where the targets "Neck" is.
Down B: Switch - Houndoom is the only one without a switching attack.
Taunt: Howls like a Wolf to the moon.
Conviently enough, while making this, the song "Rocket" by Yellowcard rolled around my playlist
