Name: Bubbles
Games: Clu Clu Land
Game(s): Clu Clu Land, Clu Clu Land D, Donkey Kong: King of Swing, Super Smash Bros. Melee
Bubbles is among Nintendo's classic all-stars, she's in the same boat as Pit, Tamagon and Balloon Fighter. She is a small, red bubblefish with a brave heart. Recently she has appeared in Melee as a trophy and King of Swing as the last playable character, and surprisingly, K. Rool's partner.
Like with Birdo there is controversy over Bubbles gender as in Japan she was known as Gloopy and was considered Male. However, Nintendo has also called the green bubblefish that is controlled by the second-player Gloopy, leading to more confusion. In my mind Gloopy is the male green side-kick and Bubbles is the female protagonist of the series.
Stats:
Speed: 5/5
Strength: 3/5
Size: 3/5
Weight: 2/5
Jump: 4/5
Fall: 3/5
Traction: 8/5
She's a small and light character, but borders on average. Her surprisingly good traction comes from the fact that her game was all about changing direction.
Entrance: A pole pops out of the ground as Bubbles come blasting in from the side of the screen. She grabs the pole and swings on it as she slides downward, firmly she plants her feet into the ground and the pole submerges once more.
Taunt Up: Holds her hand over her eyes and looks to the sky.
Taunt Side: Imitates, spoofs and homages Pac-Man's trademark thumbs-up.
Taunt Down: Looks down and pulls a golden Ingot from the ground. Carefully she dusts the gem with her hand and pockets it.
Special Attacks:
Up B: Charge Jump - Borrowed from DK:KoS, pressing and holding Up B will cause Bubble to crouch and move downward slowly, she looks much like Ness when he's controlling PK Thunder except that she starts to grow red. The redder she is, the farther she leaps. Rotating the joystick while charging this jump will rotate the angle she leaps at.
B: Bubblewave - Bubble will emit a sound wave that is accompanied by a cute and enjoyable blooping sound. The wave is slow moving and doesn't cover great distance.
Smash B: Spin-Spin Pole - Swings around on one of the poles from Clu Clu Land. As she swings, she'll damage foes. Pressing B and a direction will launch her in that direction while pushing down will couse her to slide to the ground and pocket the pole.
When used in the air she will spin around the pole once very quickly and launch herself through the air in the direction she was facing. Contacting a wall like this will do the opposite of a ledge grab, instead she will bounce off the wall.
Down B: Bubble Bounce - Bubbles slams into the ground then bounces off of it. Not a high bounce. Essentially it's the same as Bowser and Yoshi's Down B with a damaging bounce afterward instead of leaving her open as she climbs to her feet.
Final Smash: Clu Clu - Poles from Clu Clu Land will pop up all over the stage (even in mid-air around the stage), as will the urchin-like enemies, the Unira. The Unira swim around the stage, striking foes while Bubbles enters a fit of modernized retro. During this mode Bubbles can only move by swinging on the poles and flinging herself at other poles, luckily she's invincible during this and deals great damage to foes she hits. As a foil, the Unira can also harm her if she hits them, and end the attack prematurely.
